Adopt-a-Missionary!

“Good Morning!  And in case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night.”– Jim Carrey

Hello, my faithful readers and fellow random-wanderers.

As some of you may know, I have just joined the ministry staff at the International House of Prayer-Kansas City.  For those of you who don’t know, on September 19, 1999, a prayer meeting began in a little trailer in Grandview, Missouri that has continued 24 hours a day, 7 days a week even until the present day.  IHOP-KC is not an isolated “fringe group”, rather, IHOP-KC is a part of a larger prayer movement that God is raising up across the entire earth (other 24/7 Houses of Prayer exist in America, most notably IHOP-Atlanta, and the Prayer Furnace in Chicago).  As a part-time staff member of this ministry, I serve the prayer movement not only by being in the prayer room for a minimum of 12 hours a week, but also in service to the prayer room.  I am currently a sound tech for a NightWatch[midnight-6AM] worship team, and am an approved musician as well.

Another facet of being an Intercessory Missionary is that I need to support myself from month-to-month.  I have a job at a local business that restricts my time, but I am looking for an opportunity to become a full-time staff member.  I am aiming to raise a team of people to partner with me in this cause.  My current goal is to be able to join full-time staff by Mid-December of this year (2007) prior to beginning school at IHOP-KC’s Forerunner School of Ministry in January.  I will not be able to reach this goal without people being willing to support me in this ministry.  I am needing people to support me financially and/or in prayer. If you are interested in praying for me, contact me, and I will get you connected.

Now, I want people to know that they are not staring at a financial black hole.  That being said, I thought it necessary to put together a list of some of the benefits, tangible and intangible, of supporting me as an intercessory missionary.  Firstly, and most importantly, is that you will be partnering in my ministry, geared towards Psalm 134 (behold and bless the Lord, all you servants who minister by night in the house of the Lord), Psalm 27:4 (One thing I seek), and Luke 18 (Surely the Lord will avenge speedily his elect who cry out to Him day and night).  Secondly, I will be making myself available to take prayer requests from each of my supporters, no matter how big or small.  Thirdly, I will be mailing out an E-newsletter every month (barring some un-forseeable setback) to keep you up to date on what’s going on  around IHOP, any big revival type news, and within my own life.  If thou wouldst like a snail-mail copy of the newsletter, archaic though it may be, it can be arranged.  Last, and what I am most excited about, I will be setting up an E-mail list (through Yahoo Groups) that will allow me more regular contact with anyone who chooses to support me.  This list will provide a means of communication so that I can update you on emergency prayer bulletins, you can send me prayer requests, and we can talk about the Bible (devotions and all that jazz).

Please prayerfully consider supporting the prayer movement.  If you would like any additional information, or if you have any questions about myself, IHOP-KC, or the Prayer Movement in general, feel free to email me using the contact form below or leave a comment on this page.  Thanks!

Adam
